BACCINETTI
Baccinetti is a Tuscan property owned by Giovanni Pennoni and his wife Mieke Konig. They inherited the estate from his father while Giovanni was working in the telecommunications industry, and the couple decided to eventually retire there and make wine. Their first release was the 2004 vintage—a very small production that has since grown to about 450 cases annually. Located to the west of Lisini, on the south face of Montalcino, the property has denser, richer soils, with more sun and warmth than some of the nearby estates, hence the wines have more richness and ripe fruit character. We found them after a couple from Texas suggested the property to our buyer Greg, and—since Baccinetti is located across the street from Tenuta di Sesta, another K&L direct producer—it made checking up on the recommendation quite easy!
