COLONIAS DE GALEON
Certified organic wines (by CAAE, Comité Andaluz de Agricultura Ecológica), from outside of Sevilla, Colonias de Galeon is a labor of love headed by Elena Viguera and Julián Navarro. They set out in 1998 to prove that Andalucía is capable of producing delicious red and white wine (in addition to the famous wines of Jerez). Having planted vines in the national park lands of the Sierra Norte outside of Sevilla, at 700 meters altitude in heavily slate soils, where there is a surprisingly generous amount of rainfall, the results are both delicious and impressive: crisp, bright, varietally true wines with great personality that are truly wines "de segunda copa y segunda botella" (wines that encourage you to pour another glass and open a second bottle).
