MARTINEZ ALESANCO

It was their fantastic rosé which originally brought Martinez Alesanco to our attention. The winery produces a classic style of Rioja rosé, referred to in the region as "clarete", a lovely rosé that ranges in color from coppery pink to a slightly darker huge. The style combines white wine with gently macerated rosé, in this case made from Garnacha grapes, to create a very refreshing take on the ever popular dry rosé. Martinez Alesanco is based in the Rioja Alta village of Badarán, where the higher elevation, colder vineyards are particularly well suited towards producing fresh reds and vibrant rosé wines.
