Throughout the month of December K&L will be running a food drive to benefit the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and we're asking customers for any help they can give. Starting today you'll see donation barrels like the one pictured above by the doors of our two NorCal locations, dedicated to collecting donations through the end of the year. The SF-Marin food bank serves 30,000 families and 29,000 seniors each month through their food pantry, home delivery, and school programs. If you would like to donate, SHFB has asked for the following items as their "most needed":

-tuna, canned meat
-peanut butter
-soup, chili
-beans
-low sugar cereal
-canned fruit and vegetables
-whole grain rice, pasta & oats

They've asked that we avoid anything bottled in glass or perishable in nature. Some general guidelines are:

-Only donate items that you would eat.
-Make sure items are still within their “use before” date.
-Avoid glass items, which can break.
-Avoid perishable items like dairy, meat, chicken, fish, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

If you're coming by the San Francisco and Redwood City stores to do some shopping or pick up a will call order, we're asking anyone who wants to help to bring a can or two with them to donate. Together, utilizing the collective power of the Bay Area's wine community, we can make a very big difference. We've seen it before with the Napa/Sonoma wildfire raffles and we know we can continue to do more! Thanks to anyone in advance who wants to participate.
