TASSI
Fabio Tassi is a wine retailer who has a wine shop called enoteca la fortezza right in Montalcino. For years he's been one of the leading merchants, and he learned how to make wine from listening to the producers whose wine he sells year after year. He eventually bought property under the Castello di Velona, next to Stella Campalto—thought of as one of the best new wave producers in Montalcino. Tassi makes two wines: Tassi and Franci. Franci was his mother’s last name and the wine that bares it is made from the old vines on the vineyard slope. The Tassi a broader, plumy flavored wine made from the vines on the flatter floor of the property. We’ve been working with Fabio directly since 2004.
