California vineyards we can’t name, prices we can. Wines from some of the state’s best-known estates, bottled under our label because the producer can’t put theirs on it at this price.
Each wine comes from an established California or Oregon estate that cannot sell it at this price under its own name. The vineyard, the cellar and the winemaking team are the same; the name stays off the label, and when a critic scores the wine, the review has to be redacted too.
Ryan chooses the lots in the vineyard and the barrels in the cellar, and K&L commits to the wine before it is bottled. That gives the winemaker dependable cash flow and gives us a price no one else is offered.
A Pinot Noir that sells for $80 under its own label is $21.95 here; a Napa Cabernet that sells for $120 is $49.95. The series now reaches from Anderson Valley to Paso Robles and the Willamette Valley, and grows with every vintage.
We can bring unbelievable wines at unbelievable prices to customers, while supporting winemakers with cash flow and upfront commitments that are dependable and projectable. With the trust K&L has built over 50 years in the business, plus my own deep personal connections to great producers across California and beyond, I strongly believe the sky is the limit for what we can achieve with this range of wines.
The range of what has carried the label so far, kept by hand; releases come and go as each bottling sells through, so stock and today’s prices are on klwines.com. The “elsewhere” comparisons are the ones K&L has published.
Each new bottling gets a write-up from Ryan on the blog; they appear here as they are published, newest first.
