Programs
The things K&L does that other shops don't: wines and spirits we import ourselves, a label we make, a series built for discovery, clubs, futures, and a bar. Each has its own place here and its own stream of articles.
Direct Imports
Producers we buy from directly, with no importer in between, which is why the prices are what they are and why we write about them first. Two hundred-odd estates and houses, from Champagne growers to Armagnac farms.
Discovery Series
Twelve wines chosen to teach something — a grape, a place, a style — with a buyer's notes on each, plus the masterclasses that go deeper.
Wine clubs
Two bottles a month, chosen by the buyers, with the story behind each. Core, regional and collector tiers, and a personal sommelier service for the particular.
Our own labels
Kalinda, the wine we make ourselves from small West Coast lots, and the private labels that follow it — sold only at K&L.
Anonymous
Serious wine from producers who can't put their name on the label at this price. You get the wine; they keep the secret.
Bordeaux en primeur
Futures bought in the spring after the vintage, from the châteaux we visit every year. The reports, the campaign, and how to use both.
Open Cellar
Our bar in Redwood City: wines by the glass from the shelves, flights, and the occasional producer behind the counter.
Champagne Tent
The grower Champagne event: dozens of producers, one afternoon, every bottle on the table for sale.
