Aurore Dezat
Sancerre from Les Chasseignes, a hill of Kimmeridgian marl full of fossil shells — Aurore Dezat's family domaine, now in her hands.
Aurore Dezat took over her family's winery, the Domaine des Chasseignes, some years ago and runs it with her husband and partner David Girard. It is named for the hill the winery sits beside: a very special plot of Kimmeridgian marl, known locally as Terres Blanches, where the fossilised shellfish are abundant in the vineyard.
The Sancerre Les Chasseignes is the wine — one of Keith Mabry's favourite visits on his last trip through the Loire.
