Bell Hill

Tiny, limestone-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from North Canterbury — the product of dramatically low yields and unwavering attention to detail.

Bell Hill is a small estate on a limestone hillside in North Canterbury, on the South Island, planted by Marcel Giesen and Sherwyn Veldhuizen on an old lime quarry. The yields are dramatically low and the attention to detail in vineyard and winery is incredible; the result is one of New Zealand's most sought-after Pinot Noirs, with deeply fused aromas of red and black cherries, earth, baking spices and wild herbs.

James Suckling gave the Pinot Noir 97 points and The Wine Advocate 94. The Chardonnay and the Single Parcel Shelf bottling are rarer still.
