Charles Baur is a family domaine in Eguisheim, the walled village south of Colmar, now run by Arnaud Baur. Its vineyards include parcels in three grands crus — Brand, Eichberg and Pfersigberg — and the wines show it: the Pinot Gris Grand Cru Brand is highly perfumed with yellow flowers, mango and fresh ginger, silky and crystalline at once, with honeyed grapefruit and spice on a finish that builds and builds.
Rieslings from Brand and Eichberg, Gewurztraminer and the everyday Alsace bottlings complete the range.
