CHÂTEAU DE LA CHARRIÈRE
Formerly run by Yves Girardin, Château de la Charrière is now run by his young son Benoit, who definitely has modernized the winemaking a bit since his first vintage in 2011. Whereas the wines were a bit funky and rustic previously, the past few vintages are much cleaner; showcasing the pureness of the Pinot Noir by de-stemming completely so as to remove tannic structure. Their local Santenay premier cru wines are the stars, but they offer a number of traditional and affordably-priced reds and whites that show typicity and place with fresh and approachable flavors.
