Christophe Monget

Sauvignon from the Coteaux du Giennois, on the northern border of Pouilly-Fumé across the river from Sancerre — the same soils, a fraction of the price.

The Coteaux du Giennois sits directly on the northern border of Pouilly-Fumé and opposite Sancerre, across the Loire. Like its pricier neighbours its ruling grape is Sauvignon Blanc, on almost identical soils of clay-limestone and silex; it is simply less known and less planted. Christophe Monget is the grower we work with there.

A white and a red (Gamay and Pinot Noir), both priced like the obscure appellation they come from rather than the famous ones next door.
