Domaine Barge is one of the old family names of Ampuis, the village under the roasted slopes of Côte-Rôtie, now run by Julien Barge. Les Côtes and Coeur de Combard are the Côte-Rôties: ripe, smoke-accented red berries, licorice and violet, with spice and game emerging and gentle tannins that come in late.
The Clos des Martinets St-Joseph shows the same hand on granite further south.
