Domaine Begude
James and Catherine Kinglake's organic estate in the high Aude valley above Limoux — Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Viognier, even Grüner Veltliner — among our best direct imports.
Domaine Begude was bought in 2003 by a British couple, James and Catherine Kinglake, who converted the vineyards to organic farming with natural fertilisers and no irrigation. It sits in the Haute Vallée de l'Aude above Limoux, where altitude and the Pyrenean influence make the Languedoc's coolest wines.
The winemaker is Laurent Girault. Chardonnay Terroir 11300, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Viognier, Grüner Veltliner and an orange Gewurztraminer called Sipiona: today the wines are among our best direct imports.
