Domaine Roche
Cairanne, with a cuvée from Grenache vines planted in 1870 — the most remarkable Cairanne Robert Parker said he had ever tasted.
Domaine Roche is in Cairanne, the village that became a cru in its own right in 2016 after decades as the best of the Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages. The estate's La Bousquette comes from a parcel of old-vine Grenache planted in 1870, just after phylloxera began destroying Europe's vineyards, cropped at 25 hectolitres per hectare.
Parker called the 2010 probably the most remarkable Cairanne he had ever tasted and gave it 95; the regular Cairanne is the one for weeknights.
