MacRobert & Canals

Laventura: Bryan MacRobert's single-parcel Rioja from old terraced vines above Laguardia — the Barranco de San Ginés earned 95 points from Parker's team.

MacRobert & Canals is the Rioja Alavesa project of Bryan MacRobert and Raquel Canals, bottled under the Laventura name. Their Barranco de San Ginés comes from a 1.18-hectare plot in Laguardia planted in 1935 — or at least registered that year — with an old selection of Tempranillo on small terraces at some 570 metres, following the contour lines, and farmed organically for years.

Paraje de la Virgen is the second single-site wine. These are Riojas of place rather than of oak regime, and we bring them in directly.
