Matt Connell
Matt Connell hails from Central Otago—a snowy, breathtakingly beautiful area on New Zealand’s Southern Island—and his wines, a limited set of Pinot and Chardonnay, capture the elegance and tension of that cool-climate terroir to a T. With twenty years of winemaking experience and many accolades under his belt, he’s at the top of his game. He has access to some of Central Otago’s best vineyard sites and produces excellent, age-worthy wines with weight, balance, and aromatic fruit. When asked to describe them, he says, “My wines show consistency of style and warmth of spirit,” which we reckon reflects the winemaker, too. We’re thrilled to have him on board our direct import program.
