Good-value Burgundy from the Hautes-Côtes: Aligoté and Hautes-Côtes de Beaune in both colours, the red savoury and herbaceous.
Nuiton-Beaunoy is the grower cooperative of the Hautes-Côtes, the hills above the Côte d'Or where Burgundy is still affordable. We import the Bourgogne Aligoté and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune blanc and rouge.
The red took one of our staff by surprise: herbaceous, even a bit vegetal, bell pepper and cherry pit, with the savoury, umami, forest-floor notes that good Burgundy acquires — the kind you might mistake for Cabernet Franc blind.
