Our Buyers' Mother's Day Picks 2026: Champagne, Barolo, Rosé & Spirits

TOP SELECTIONS TO CELEBRATE MOM

Whether you're shopping for the Champagne lover, the Barolo collector, the rosé-by-the-pool mom, or the one who just wants a really good Negroni, we have bottles starting at $17.99 and going up to a proper splurge—and a few gift ideas that will keep delivering long after Sunday.

Mother's Day is this Sunday. If you're reading this on Saturday night in a mild panic—we see you, and we've got you covered. If you have a little time to spare, even better. Our buyers put together a genuinely great lineup this year.

Champagne Buyer Gary Westby makes the case for Franck Bonville Champagne from the Grand Cru village of Avize, including a single-vineyard 2017 that Olivier Bonville only makes when the vintage earns it. Spoiler: 2017 earned it.

Italian Buyer Orazio Campoli knows the way to mom’s heart: through Barolo! Try the E. Pira lineup from Chiara Boschis—a producer who helped define modern Barolo, whose wines are as elegant as they are age-worthy.

Jonathan Goldstein, our NYC Spirits Buyer, picks three bottles for the cocktail-minded mom: a Japanese aperitivo to transform her Negroni, a Mediterranean gin for the perfect gin and tonic, and a Jalisco blanco tequila that works as well neat as it does in a margarita. We also have six rosés ranging from crisp Provence classics to juicy pool wine—all under $34, all exactly right for a Sunday afternoon with Mom.

If you want to do something beyond a bottle:

· Heritage & Champagne Tasting — Saturday May 9th, all four California locations, $25: Six Champagnes, Grand Cru villages, the day before Mother's Day. Purchase tickets in advance.

· Hendrick's Girl Dinner at Petit Trois — Tuesday May 19th, 6–9 PM, Hollywood: Two Martinis, wagyu sliders, charcuterie, and a full bottle of the new "Another Hendrick's" Scottish Gin to take home—on the patio at one of LA's best French bistros. Honestly, just take Mom to this one. Get your seats here.

· K&L Champagne Club — The easiest gift in the business. Two hand-selected bottles at her door every other month. Learn more.

· Personal Sommelier Membership — Her own dedicated sommelier, every shipment built for her palate and budget. No membership fee. It's effortless yet rewarding!

Happy Mother's Day. Now go call her!

Champagne for Mom: Franck Bonville's Grand Cru Avize

When someone asks me for a Mother's Day Champagne recommendation they can count on, Franck Bonville is the first name out of my mouth. Every Champagne that they make is both elegant and delicious—they are among the most sure-fire hits that we have. Even if your mom is hard to shop for, she is bound to like the combination of lemony zest and toasty richness in these wines. These wines are all Grand Cru, and the family has been making wines in the village of Avize since the 1920s. Read More On the Trail.

Barolo for Mother’s Day: E. Pira from Chiara Boschis

Chiara Boschis, owner and winemaker of E. Pira in Barolo, is one of the most influential figures in modern Piedmont. She’s more than a winemaker; she’s a revolutionary. She the first woman to lead a historic estate in male-dominated Barolo—and a central member of the “Barolo Boys”—the group of young rebels who famously turned the Langhe upside down in the 1980s and 90s. Boschis redefined how Piedmont Nebbiolo could be grown, vinified, and enjoyed. Her wines balance power and grace, shaping a modern Barolo style that values approachability without sacrificing terroir or longevity. Read More On the Trail.

Give Mom Her Own Personal Sommelier

For the mom who loves wine and deserves something truly personal, skip the bottle and give her the whole experience. K&L's Personal Sommelier program pairs her with one of the most knowledgeable wine teams in the country. Every shipment is built specifically for her—her palate, her preferences, her budget—with each bottle hand-selected just for her by a real human being who knows wine cold.

There's no membership fee. You simply pay for the wines, with complete flexibility over how many bottles she receives, what they cost, and where they come from. Champagne obsessive? Pinot fanatic? Curious about everything? We can work with that. Members also get discounted pricing on bottles from our traditional Wine Clubs, plus access to our monthly Wine Club tasting. This isn't a one-time gift. It's the thing she mentions every time someone asks what her favorite part of the month is. It's easy—you can sign her up here!

Rosé for Mom: Six Bottles Under $34

There seems to be a lot of historical data that points to rosé wine being the oldest type of wine, which makes a lot of sense—making an accidental rosé would be fairly natural as people learned and refined the winemaking process. Trying to make a red wine with very short skin contact would result in the aforementioned rosé. It just kind of makes sense, and that's why when Wikipedia told me that I totally believed it. Then my mind started to wander, as it often does, and I wondered if these early winemakers and wine buyers might have gifted their finest rosé wines to their own mothers and wives to celebrate them. I know that Mother's Day is a modern holiday, but the treasuring of the people most important to us has to be as old as time—it just feels right, doesn't it? I could probably more definitively answer this question with a couple of Google searches and a chat with some bot, but I’m mostly shootin' from the hip today, folks. So let’s just go with it. Read more On the Trail.
