The Right Bank in Redwood City

Our visit to Château Barde-Haut this past April was one of the most memorable of the trip for me personally, not only because it was there we had our first somewhat healthy meal of the week, but also because I truly loved the wines. Owned by the couple in the middle, Patrice and Hélène Garçin, the property makes what is consistently one of the best deals in St. Emilion, all produced from organic and sustainably managed vineyards that roll through the nearby hills like a patchwork quilt. This coming Wednesday, May 11th, we'll have Hélène and her assistant Charlotte (pictured to the right) in the Redwood City store for a very special public tasting starting at 5 PM. You can walk right in and taste these wines with the woman who made them! I'm pretty excited, to be honest. I'm snagging the two lovely ladies at the airport that morning and we'll be setting up events throughout the day. But it's not just Barde-Haut we'll be tasting; it's the whole portfolio.

Hélène will have wines from the 2014 and 2015 Barde-Haut and Clos L'Eglise properties meaning that for the first time in our store's history, customers will be able to do their own 2015 en primeur vintage sampling. These are the same wines we tasted last month in Bordeaux as a company, in our tasting bar, available to the public, with the owner of the château herself. She'll also have older vintages in tow. The tasting will be ten dollars and it starts at 5 PM.

We hope to see you there!
