Dazzling Aromatic Whites from Germany, Austria, and Alsace

Today's Newsletter brings us many of the greatest white wines in the world, all from undisputed masters of their craft. To make matters even more compelling, they also represent some of the greatest values in long-term, cellar-worthy wine you'll find anywhere.

Alsace leads off with the one and only Trimbach, an estate with nearly four centuries of history creating the region's definitive expressions from its greatest terroirs. The 2020 vintage in Germany is another in a series of stellar recent growing seasons, highlighted by the wines of two of the country's most revered and iconic estates in Dönnhoff and Joh. Jos. Prüm. These wines are quite simply among the very finest examples of Riesling on the market, and collectors and aficionados will once again find a treasure trove of unbelievable class and sophistication in these line-ups. Finally, Austria continues to up its game as its reference-point producers are now turning out some of their best wines ever, in many cases at jaw-dropping prices that don't do justice the sheer quality in the bottle. With offerings from Nigl, Bründlmayer, Nikolaihof, and Hirsch, it's time to discover (or re-discover) Riesling and Grüner Veltliner in singular expressions that can only come from Austria's greatest estates.
