Meet Your Local Delivery Driver: Andre Sotomayor
One of the truly great things we accomplished at K&L this year was bringing our wine, spirits, and beer delivery service in-house. Rather than relying on external vendors to deliver orders to our local customers, we hired a first-rate team of drivers to our staff and built a system that provides real-time tracking and SMS notifications. We are so pleased with the improved service we can offer—all at little to no cost—and hope you are too. Customers now get predictive ETA notifications so you’ll never miss your delivery. You can communicate directly with the driver if, for instance, your location is tricky to find. You can also track the delivery status online. In addition to all the technical improvements, we can vouch for the quality of our drivers—they’re fantastic at what they do.
Andre Sotomayor is the first driver we brought onto staff at our Hollywood location. He made the first delivery on the first day of our new service and has been essential ever since. I asked him a little bit about his average day. He said: “We’re covering around 150-200 miles in a day. In the morning we can be at the beach and by afternoon in Pasadena or Arcadia. It’s exciting going so many different places. I listen to my playlist to stay occupied. I love that we have this safety culture at K&L so I can drive safely and keep myself safe and the products safe.
“I get good feedback from customers; they get notifications and can track me in real time. They have direct communication with us. A lot of what I hear from customers is that they like that there’s flexibility—I can place their boxes anywhere they want because we can communicate via text. People are very friendly. One invited me to have a taste of the wine, but I said no because I was driving! I love how often I get welcomed with offerings of water, etc. We even drop off for famous people—I was excited about delivering to a well-known soccer player. Delivery driving is a lot about relationship building. I find there’s always an opportunity to take something simple and take it to the next level.”
