1er Cru Chablis Values with Pedigree from Agnes Gleizes

Back on our shelves: Agnes Gleizes, a K&L Exclusive Chablis label and a seven-generation family domaine with enviable holdings across top Grand Cru and 1er Cru vineyard sites. Domaine Gautheron, a top Chablis producer and a K&L fan favorite, is behind the Agnes Gleizes label. In fact, you’ll find the exact same juice in the Agnes Gleizes wines as in Domaine Gautheron’s. Thanks to our great relationship with Domaine Gautheron, we’ve been able to secure our own exclusive label! Not only are these wines fantastic but they are easily the best value we currently have in Chablis.

We have two new offerings on the shelves from the 2024 vintage, adding to our roster from 2023. All are truly delicious wines, but we’re particularly excited to be able to bring you three bottles from 1er Cru vineyards for under $35! These show this family’s excellent craftsmanship and decades of tradition in every sip.

To be able to offer three 1er Cru Chablis at under $35 of this quality is what our direct-import program is all about. The 2023 Agnes Gleizes Chablis 1er Cru “Vaucoupin” $34.99 JM90-92 springs from the glass with orchard and sea breeze aromas that give way to a palate flush with citrus, mineral, and salty notes. Bright and vibrant, this is a great 1er Cru offering. Equally stunning is the 2023 Agnes Gleizes Chablis 1er Cru “Fourneaux Vieilles Vignes” $34.99 JM91-94 TA93 comes from 70+ year old vines and displays wonderful aromas of white flowers, citrus zest, and oyster shells that give way to a zesty palate awash in citrus, wet stone, and flint. This wine is packed with energy and drive, exactly what you want in a Chablis. It is vivid and drinking wonderfully right out of the gate. The 2023 Agnes Gleizes Chablis 1er Cru “Mont de Mileu” $34.99 JM92-95 TA93 is rocking from the moment you bring this baby up to your nose! Dense aromas of citrus and freshly picked orchard fruits spring from the glass while the palate is awash in ripe orchard fruits, hints of lemon peel, and that tell-tale flinty/stoney characteristic that is so identifiable in great Chablis. Three truly impressive 1er Cru offerings from Agnes Gleizes.

The non-1er Cru offerings absolutely hold their own and each represent outstanding value. At under $20 a bottle, the 2023 Agnes Gleizes Petit Chablis $19.99 and 2024 Agnes Gleizes Petit Chablis $19.99 are a great way to discover how different vintages affect the same terroir. The 2023 Petit Chablis offers more generous fruit and richness—ripe citrus, stone fruit, and a rounder mouthfeel—while the 2024 version shows tighter acidity, more intensity (due to severely reduced yields), and a more mineral‑, flinty‑driven profile, giving sharper tension overall. Both are the perfect weekday Chablis value; find the style that best suits you! Likewise, the domaine’s 2024 Agnes Gleizes Bourgogne Blanc $19.99 shows clarity, bright acidity, purity of terroir, and a more classic build than some of the warmer recent vintages.

The 2023 Agnes Gleizes Chablis $19.99 JM88-90 comes from 15 to 55 year-old vines, displays ample fruit notes while also highlighting classic Chablis notes of minerality and saline. The estate Chablis feels amplified and complex on the palate. The 2023 Agnes Gleizes Chablis Vieilles Vignes $24.99 JM89-92 comes from vines 60+ years of age and shows wonderful intensity and drive. Shimmering fruit that transitions from citrus to orchard fruits, this complex Chablis Vieilles Vignes is an absolute stunner and easily blows away any Chablis challengers at this price-point.

We’ve always valued relationships at K&L; we aim to find the best small producers across the world and work with them to get their wines to the U.S. at the best prices. This series from Agnes Gleizes shows the power of that approach, especially in the stunning 1er Crus with knockout pricing. Stock up!
