An Unprecedented Collection of 1982 First Growths Now at Auction

Today, the last selection from the epic Edgewood Cellar goes live on our auction site, and we want to make sure you don’t miss it. For Bordeaux lovers, this is a remarkable opportunity to go deep on the 1982 vintage—the vintage that made Robert Parker famous for his ability to predict runaway successes, in a time when there were far fewer critics and far less information in the field. Our seller, a San Francisco local, was also a keen observer of the market, and heavily invested in 1982s based on his own research and instincts. We found his meticulous handwritten notes on the wines and critic reports alongside his bottles—this is truly the collection of a wine lover. He chose well; his cellar features pristinely stored First Growths Margaux, Haut-Brion, Latour, and Mouton as well as other ‘82 favorites like Pichon-Lalande, Gruaud-Larose, and Cheval Blanc. All the bottles have perfect provenance, having been stored in the underground cellar in his family home since he first purchased them—many directly from K&L upon release!

Auction Buyer Scott Shulsinger, who has been shepherding the collection, said: “This is one of the best cellars that I’ve ever seen. It’s more of the 1982 vintage from First Growth estates than I’ve ever seen. Sometimes you’ll see a bottle or two, but at this depth… it’s unparalleled.” We are incredibly proud to be able to represent this collection, especially with so many bottles that were purchased directly from us in 1984.

This collection also features some bottles from 1961, 1966, and older California vintages, but 1982 is far and away the star of the show. Many of the lots end within the next few days, so this is definitely one not to sleep on!
