Pascal Aufranc

Chénas, the smallest cru of Beaujolais, from the En Remont vineyard — bright, energetic Gamay with fine tannins and a floral finish.

Pascal Aufranc works in Chénas, the smallest of the ten Beaujolais crus and one of the most overlooked. His En Remont bottling is brilliant ruby and bright and energetic on the nose, fresh red and blue fruit with a suave hint of incense; juicy black raspberry and boysenberry, a spine of tangy acidity, fine-grained tannins and a floral finish that hangs on.

There is also a cuvée called Naturellement, made as the name suggests. Both are 92-point wines at cru Beaujolais prices.
