Patrick Tranchand
St-Amour, the northernmost cru, in a cuvée called Coeur de Gamay — smoke, spice, boysenberry and violet pastille.
Patrick Tranchand is in St-Amour, the northernmost of the Beaujolais crus, on the border with the Mâconnais. His Coeur de Gamay is the estate's calling card: glistening purple, smoke- and spice-accented boysenberry, cherry and candied flowers, with a building mineral quality and a long, pliant, floral finish.
Vinous gave it 91 points; our customers give it a second glass.
