Raineri
Monforte d'Alba Barolo from two of the commune's named vineyards, Perno and Castelletto, made by a small team of friends who started with Dolcetto twenty years ago.
Gianmatteo "Jimmy" Raineri and his friends Fabrizio Giraudo and Luciano Racca began by making Dolcetto two decades ago; when Jimmy's father-in-law entrusted him with his small Barolo parcels, the estate became what it is now — a Monforte house with holdings in two officially recognised vineyard areas of the commune, Perno and Castelletto.
Monforte's compact marls give structured, long-lived Barolo, and the Raineri bottlings show it: dense without heaviness, with the grainy, vaulted tannins the village is known for. Alongside the two single-vineyard Barolos there is a Langhe Bianco and a Barbera from the Ca' dei Folli vineyard — juicy, unpretentious, the wine that fuels Piedmont.
