Tahbilk
One of Australia's oldest family estates, on the Goulburn River in Victoria, with Marsanne vines planted in 1927 that are among the oldest in the world.
Tahbilk sits in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria, on the Goulburn River, and has been making wine since 1860; the Purbrick family have owned it since 1925. Its calling card is Marsanne: the estate holds the largest single planting of the grape in the world, and the 1927 Vines bottling comes from the oldest of them.
The 1927 Vines Marsanne, aged in bottle before release and still fresh a decade on, has earned 96 points from The Wine Advocate; the young Marsanne and the Grenache-Mourvèdre rosé are the everyday wines.
