Tenute Inverso
A tiny family project in Abruzzo and one of the most exciting under-the-radar Montepulciano d'Abruzzo in the region — one cuvée in steel, one in amphora, about 2,000 bottles of the latter.
Tenute Inverso is a small, family-run discovery in Abruzzo, the region between the Apennines and the Adriatic where Montepulciano (the grape, not the Tuscan town) makes Italy's most underrated red. Too much of the appellation is heavy, jammy and over-oaked; Inverso is the exact opposite, and that is why we import it.
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel — everyday Montepulciano as it should be, dark-fruited and savoury with its natural identity intact. The "Anfora" is the rarity: the same grape raised in clay amphora, around two thousand bottles, an exclusive we are proud to have.
