Staff BBQ Season C'est Arrivé: Redwood City

‘Tis the season to throw some meat on the grill, break out some magnums, and gather the staff around ye olde parking lot. After a few strange years of no-to-minimal socializing (something we K&Lers do best), we’re finally able to gather again to break bread and enjoy good drink (another thing we do best).

I was lucky to be able to attend two of the three store BBQs, and SF’s Manager Dulcinea Gonzales filled in pictures from the SF BBQ for me (which you’ll see in a subsequent post). Below, you’ll find some of your favorite faces from Redwood City hanging out off-the-clock and enjoying a summer evening together. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: it’s the people that make K&L such a special place—they’re a passionate, hard-working, fun-loving lot—as geeky about their knowledge of food and beverage as they are about their enjoyment of them. This is a team that well deserves a staff appreciation BBQ!

The Redwood City BBQ was special for me because it was the first time meeting many people in person after working together for years. It was made even more special with the addition of a killer library lineup from Calera! We’re all so excited about this acquisition, and this was my first time tasting through the wines. They were fresh, alive and complex, and each vineyard showed a consistent, distinctive character vintage after vintage. Thanks to Domestic Buyer Ryan Woodhouse for opening the bottles! And thanks to the rest of the Redwood City crew for welcoming me to the feast!
