2023 FX Pichler-Reference Point Wines of Austria

Austria is known as one of the old-world wine producers with an impressive stable of world-class Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings. FX Pichler is easily one of the greatest winemakers in Austria. His wines are stunning examples of what Grüner Veltliner and Riesling can achieve from the best vineyard sites in his capable hands.

FX Pichler can trace their winemaking history back seven generations to Franz Pichler II, who moved to the Wachau Valley in the middle of the 19th century. Today Lucas Pichler and his wife Johanna Elisabeth manage the winery with Lucas in charge of winemaking and vineyard management and Johanna running sales and marketing. This is a true family winery with Lucas’s parents Franz Xavier and Rudolfine still working in various roles at the winery.

FX Pichler farms organically and their wines are vegan, which reflects their philosophy of minimal intervention from farming to winemaking. The goal is to make the most authentic wines possible that are true to their terroir and individual varietal identity. These are truly world-class wines and in limited availability.
