Happy Halloween from Our SF Team!
Last week, we held a Team Halloween candy and wine pairing contest for staffers in our San Francisco location. It was scary, it was fun, it was a little gross, but we all survived to tell the tale!
Each team member randomly picked a Halloween candy and paired it with a wine. We voted on our team's favorite pairing, and we also voted on the worst pairing for a booby prize!
To our astonishment, the favorite pairing came from our newest member of the team, Richard Wilson, with his pairing of the 2022 Unti "Bianco del Campo" Creek Valley White Blend $24.99 with Almond Joy.
Richard explained that coconut pairs well with Sauvignon Blanc and almonds pair well with richer Chardonnays and felt that Unti's white blend brings elements of the best of both worlds. Excellent job, Richard!
We finished up the line-up with Mike Pires' Barbadillo "La Cilla" Pedro Ximénez Jerez-Xérès-Sherry (375ml) $19.99 paired with Kit Kat for one of the gnarliest pairings in the bunch! While the spice profile was fine, the La Cilla overpowered the Kit Kat in sweetness and tested all of our limits. Nice try, Mike!
Thanks to everyone who participated and have a happy Halloween!
