The 2023 Sassicaia earned 100 points from Wine Advocate and 98 from Decanter. More importantly—it is one of the finest vintages I have tasted from this estate in years. What makes it unusual: Sassicaia is famously closed in youth. The 2023, however, is generous and aromatic from the first pour, yet the structure is all there. Early pleasure and long-term power in the same bottle is rare here. Yields were down 20% after a brutal growing season. Supply is limited.
