Some evenings come together in a way that simply can’t be replicated. For this special dinner, K&L welcomes four distinguished estates from across France—Burgundy, Champagne, and Alsace—for a gathering unlike anything we’ve hosted before. Representatives from Domaine Olivier Leflaive, Christian Moreau, Pol Roger, and Famille Hugel will all be in the room, pouring and sharing the stories behind their wines in an intimate setting built for conversation and discovery.
Burgundy takes center stage with Domaine Olivier Leflaive, which stands among the defining names of Puligny-Montrachet, represented by Commercial Director Philibert de Vrigille, while in nearby Chablis the Moreau family farms some of the appellation’s most revered Grand Cru vineyards under sixth-generation winemaker Fabien Moreau. Few Champagne houses carry the legacy of Pol Roger, the historic Épernay estate long favored by statesmen and collectors and still family-run today, here with sixth-generation family member Bastien Collard, while Jean-Frédéric Hugel of Famille Hugel represents a house synonymous with Alsace since the 1600s, helping define the region’s most age-worthy wines. To experience these producers side by side—each a benchmark of its region and presented by the very people guiding them today—is an incredibly rare opportunity to explore the breadth of modern French wine through the voices who shape it.
Our setting is Frances, chef Melissa Perello’s celebrated restaurant, an intimate dining room known for its polished yet welcoming approach to California cuisine. Since opening in 2009, Frances has earned national recognition including a James Beard Award nomination for Best New Restaurant and placements on Bon Appétit and Esquire lists of America’s best new dining destinations. With the restaurant turned fully toward the occasion, the room takes on the feeling of a private dinner party—an ideal backdrop for wines of this stature.
With all four producers present and a table set with Grand Cru Burgundy and Alsace alongside tête de cuvée Champagne, this promises to be one of the most distinctive evenings of wine we’ve ever hosted. Join us.
