Raspberry Blush French 75

The French 75 cocktail dates back, at least, to Harry’s Bar in Paris in the 1900s, but it didn’t appear in print until the Roarin’ 20s, when they knew how to make drinks that packed a punch (apparently this is the only classic cocktail officially born in America during Prohibition). Sources say its original iteration was based on Cognac and not gin, and that it was named after a lethal French WWI gun as a nod to its own stealthy potency. Some even suggest that Charles Dickens may have had a hand in its invention? Cocktail lore is notoriously hard to pinpoint, so do with this information what you will, but do try this cocktail! It’s Will’s take, adding festive elements such as pink lemonade, raspberries, and rosé Champagne. It’s downright delicious and is the perfect way to bid adieu to 2018. Will used Louise Brison’s gorgeous L'Impertinente, a bright and fruity wine with beautiful strawberry notes and lively acidity. If it could dance, it’d be doing the Charleston! (So will you after a few of these!)

Raspberry Blush French 75
Each serving contains:

Muddle raspberries into a tumbler or wide-brimmed wine glass. Combine gin, lemonade and liqueur over ice in a shaker or mixing glass and shake or stir until properly chilled. Strain into the glass, then top with Champagne. Garnish with a wedge of lemon—the fresh juice adds just enough acid to offset the sugar and brighten the drink. For added color and a fresh twist, add a sprig of fresh mint. Serve and enjoy!
