A Wonderful Chablis Discovery: 2023 Seguinot Bordet

The roots of Seguinot Bordet trace back as far as 1590 in Chablis. The modern incarnation is the Domaine Seguinot Bordet, which is run by Jean-François Bordet. Jean-François Bordet fashions top-notch estate Chablis, Chablis Vieilles Vignes, as well as 1er Crus and Grand Cru offerings. Aiming for wines of purity that display both Chablis typicity as well as a wealth of gorgeous fruit notes, the wines of Seguinot Bordet are fantastic drinking from Chablis.

We have six amazing offerings from Domaine Seguinot Bordet, all hailing from the hot 2023 vintage. The 2023 Domaine Seguinot Bordet Chablis $24.99 89-91BH is a great introduction to the Seguinot Bordet style with aromas of sea breeze and iodine that give way to a palate awash in citrus and wet stone notes. High-toned and pure, this racy white is a classic Chablis bursting with fruit.

The 2023 Domaine Séguinot Bordet Chablis Vieilles Vignes $29.99 90BH is made from 60+ year-old vines. This wine has brilliant citrus notes with crushed rock and seashell flavors. Classic in every sense, this is a stunning and affordable Chablis.

Though the entry level wines are killer, the 1er Crus and Grand crus are a definite step up in elegance and concentration. The 2023 Domaine Séguinot-Bordet Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillons" $44.99 90VN is taut and racy with gorgeous notes of grapefruit and wet stone with that depth and power one associates with Vaillons.

Along with Montée de Tonnerre, the Fourchaume vineyard is considered the greatest of all the 1er Crus in the region. See for yourself with the 2023 Domaine Séguinot-Bordet Chablis 1er Cru "Fourchaume" $44.99 91-93BH 91VN. This wine comes from vines averaging more than 55+ years with notes of quince, lemon rind, and crushed stone.

The Grand Crus step it up a notch further with the 2023 Domaine Seguinot Bordet Chablis Grand Cru "Vaudesir" $109.99, which is loaded with pure, powerful notes of candied citrus and orchard fruits with pear and crushed stone. This is a loaded wine with a wealth of fruit and pure mineral and stone notes.

Always a favorite, we finish up with the 2023 Domaine Seguinot Bordet Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses" $109.99, which feels the most Chablis-like of all the Grand Crus. Loaded with notes of sea breeze, white flowers, and citrus on the nose, the palate is so pure and fresh with citrus rind and crushed stone flavors. These two Grand Crus really shine at the hands of Jean-François Bordet.
