BODEGAS RE

Bodegas Re (pronounced "Ray") is a small, family owned winery located right in the town of Casablanca, in the heart of the Casablanca Valley, a short 15 miles drive to the Pacific Ocean. The young owner and winemaker Pablo Morandé Debordes grew up in the business; his father (also Pablo) created the successful, eponymous winery which helped to put this cooler, coastal region on the map as a source of very good Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  Not surprisingly, Pablo has some great raw material to work with: the oldest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir plantings in Casablanca along with beautiful, old (generally 60+ year-old) dry farmed vines nestled amongst the steep granitic slopes of the coastal range in Chile's Maule Valley. It is these mature vines, combined with Pablo’s winemaking intelligence and curiosity – the winery boasts brand new Italian made botti, or large capacity oak containers, along with indigenous tinajasand amphorae as well – which informs these truly original Chilean wines.
