How to Pamper Tired Moms This Mother’s Day

As a bona fide tired mom, I’m here to attest to the fact that moms do a lot. A lot a lot. There’s unseen labor and research and consideration and love that goes into countless tasks, endless tasks; and I’m wagering that if there’s a mom in your life, she’s tired. She’s probably so tired from planning everything all the time to plan something nice for herself for Mother’s Day. That’s where you come in! And we’re here to help. Here are a few mother-approved tips that will help you make the mom in your life feel loved.

Tip 1: Start with Champagne.

This Trudon "Rosephile" Brut Rosé Champagne $39.99 is exceptional. It’s 100% Meunier Champagne from the Trudon family in the Vallée du Marne. Fourth-generation winemaker Jérôme Trudon vinifies 93% of the Meunier as a white wine, and then selects a small parcel of old-vine fruit to vinify red. The addition of this red wine creates an intense purity of fruit, like picking strawberries off the vine and taking a bite in the height of summer. Fresh acidity, ripe fruit, and a luscious body… this is a deep, pretty, very special wine. Perfect for a special lady! Sipping on this with a nice shoulder massage doesn’t sound too shabby!

Tip #2: Let her nap. Maybe read a book in a hammock. Maybe take a bubble bath and do a moisturizing mask. Let her relax.

Tip #3: She doesn’t want to have to figure out what you guys are going to eat for the day.

I’m sure the moms out there can back me up: we’re planned out! This is especially true if you have young kids. We plan breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, plus summer camp, after school care, vacations, birthdays, play dates, weekends, fish funerals… you name it. I bet the mom in your life would welcome someone else taking the reins on Mother’s Day and cooking a nice meal.

If you want to go soup to nuts, might I suggest starting with a mint pea soup and pairing it with 2021 Cantina Terlan "Terlaner Cuvée" Alto Adige $29.99? This blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc from northern Italy is a gorgeous wine that tastes like spring, with flavors of honeysuckle, pear, and an underlying minerality. Then how about this Asparagus Tart? My friend made this divine meal for me recently, and I know it’ll be a hit. We moved on to the 2019 Patrick Tranchand "Coeur de Gamay" St-Amour with the cheese course. This is a more complex Gamay with deeper berry fruit, spice, and nice weight on the palate; a great accompaniment to cheese and grilled olives. We finished with a French pineapple upside down cake. It was a perfect meal, and I have no doubt it’ll make the mom in your life feel well-pampered (you’ll get some extra cred for it feeling fancy, though it’s relatively easy to whip up).

Tip #4: Get her something that will make her life easier (see above RE planning). How about a subscription to one of our wine clubs? She’ll get two bottles every month (or every other month for the Champagne Club), and best of all, we’ll do all the wine picking for her. We also have a Personal Somm option, where she can plug in her likes and dislikes, and we customize her selection each month.

Tip #5: Tell her how much you see and appreciate all she does!

From one tired mom to all the tired moms at large: Happy Mother’s Day!
