Burgundy: For the Fridge and For the Cellar
BURGUNDY: FOR THE FRIDGE AND FOR THE CELLAR
July 2026
White Burgundy is having a moment, and for once the story isn't about prices going up. The 2024 Château Vitallis lineup is the best set of wines I've ever tasted from this estate—Decanter agrees, handing their 1er Cru "Pouilly" 97 points and Best in Show at the Decanter World Wine Awards. It's $39.99.
This week's newsletter runs the full length of the white Burgundy spectrum. On the value side: the complete Vitallis range from $19.99, and the 2024 Chablis of Samuel Billaud—a vintage Billaud himself compares to the legendary 2014. For the cellar: fresh allocations of Marc Morey, the 2024s from Joseph Colin—his best wines yet, per Jasper Morris and Allen Meadows—the fiercely allocated 2023s of Hubert Lamy, and the 2024s from Etienne Sauzet, the very epitome of great Puligny-Montrachet, topping out with Le Montrachet itself.
Whether you're stocking the everyday rack or filling cellar slots, this is the week.

2024 CHÂTEAU VITALLIS
Burgundy's Greatest White Wine Value?
Decanter's Best in Show—97 points—for $39.99. The 2024 vintage is the finest collection we've ever tasted from Château Vitallis, one of K&L's longest-running direct imports from the Mâconnais, with 90+ points awarded to all four Pouilly-Fuissé bottlings. The entire range runs $19.99 to $39.99. Read Alex's full profile On The Trail.
2024 SAMUEL BILLAUD CHABLIS
A Vintage to Rival 2014 (Pre-Arrival)
As prices for Dauvissat and Raveneau climb out of reach, Samuel Billaud has emerged as one of Chablis' greatest values — crystalline purity, precision, and minerality at a fraction of the price. Critics and Billaud himself compare 2024 to the legendary 2014 vintage, and Allen Meadows counts these among the best wines of the year. All wines are pre-arrival. Read the full story On The Trail.

DOMAINE MARC MOREY
Classic Chassagne-Montrachet at Its Finest
Tucked away in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet, this small family estate has quietly become one of the appellation's finest producers under the immensely talented Sabine Mollard. The wines are understated, elegant, and uncompromisingly classic — purity, balance, and terroir over power — and your most accessible entry into serious Côte de Beaune white. We've just received fresh allocations of both the 2022 and 2023 vintages; quantities are limited and these rarely last long. Read Alex's full profile On The Trail.
2024 JOSEPH COLIN
His Best Wines Yet (Pre-Arrival)
Younger brother of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and son of Marc Colin, Joseph Colin struck out on his own in 2017 with top-flight St-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet vineyards and prized Grand Cru holdings. His wines are taut, fresh, bright, and minerally-driven — classical white Burgundies with power and depth that age gracefully. Jasper Morris says the 2024s are his best wines yet, and Allen Meadows agrees. Read more On The Trail.

2023 HUBERT LAMY
Don't Hesitate
Olivier Lamy is one of the finest white winemakers in Burgundy, and his 2023s pair the domaine's hallmark tension and scintillating minerality with unusual youthful charm. Production is minuscule and allocations are fiercely contested — as Allen Meadows puts it, "should you come across an offering for them, don't hesitate." All wines pre-arrival and extremely limited. Read more On The Trail.
Pre-arrival: These items are estimated to be available for delivery or pickup by 09/30/2026.
2024 ETIENNE SAUZET
The Epitome of Puligny-Montrachet (Pre-Arrival)
There's a handful of truly transcendental white Burgundy producers — Ramonet, PYCM, Paul Pillot, Lafon, Leflaive — and Sauzet belongs among them. Under Benoît Riffault, this Puligny reference point is on a real upswing: Neal Martin calls the 2024s "clean, precise, focused" and highly recommends them from the village wine to the Grand Crus. Pure, crystalline wines with energy, drive, and minerality — the epitome of great Puligny-Montrachet, in a stellar vintage, topping out with Le Montrachet itself. All pre-arrival.
