Champagne Pinot Noir Madness!
An entire third of the Champagne region is planted to Pinot Noir, yet 100% Pinot Noir Blanc de Noirs is a relative rarity—especially compared to Blanc de Bancs, even though Chardonnay represents less than a quarter of plantations in the region. Here are some of our favorites:
Drappier Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature Champagne $54.99 All estate from Urville in the Aube, near the border with Burgundy. No sugar—just pure Pinot bubbles!
Paul Clouet Bouzy Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Brut Champagne $59.99 From the hallowed south-facing slopes of Bouzy Grand Cru, this is super long aged non-vintage based on 2012 with the brioche to prove it!
Laurent-Perrier "Cuvée Rosé" Brut Rosé Champagne $89.99 All Grand Cru Pinot Noir, all the skin in contact with all of the juice for an extroverted rosé that still stays perfectly elegant and dry on the finish.
Bollinger "PN TX20" Brut Champagne $129.99 95JS Our staff’s favorite, the TX stands for Tauxieres, a great village for Pinot Noir on the Mountain of Reims, based on 2020, but with reserves from the great 2012 and 2008 harvests!
2007 Billecart-Salmon "Le Clos Saint-Hilaire" Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne $559.99 From one walled vineyard on the grounds of Billecart in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, this barrel fermented Pinot Noir champagne sets the standard by which all others are measured.
