Syrah on the granite of the north — Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Cornas, Saint-Joseph — and Grenache blends in the south, from Châteauneuf-du-Pape to Gigondas and the Villages. The Rhône desk imports estates on both halves of the river, bottles two Discovery wines and the Rendez-Vous Villages blend.

Northern Rhône vintage guide
The whole guideSyrah on the granite, 2000 to today. The latest vintages, in the buyer’s words:
- 2024A cooler, wetter year than the run before it, with a late harvest and some sorting required. The wines are fresher and more classically proportioned — peppery, aromatic Syrah of moderate weight — in the style of 2013 or 2008. A vintage for those who found…
- 2023A hot summer with August heat and some September rain gave ripe, generous, well-balanced wines across the hill: deep colour, polished tannin, good freshness from the best sites in Cornas and Côte-Rôtie. Very good and consistent; the top wines will go…
- 2022One of the hottest, driest seasons on record, yet the Syrah came through with surprising balance thanks to old vines and well-timed August storms. The wines are ripe, dense and approachable, with less of the floral lift of a cool year. Drink from release…

The whole guideGrenache country, 2000 to today. The latest vintages, in the buyer’s words:
- 2024A cooler, more irregular season after years of heat, with a later harvest and more rain. The wines are fresher and lighter than the run of hot years — lifted, red-fruited Grenache with moderate alcohol. A pleasant change of pace; drink over the medium term.
- 2023A hot, dry summer with a heatwave in August, then a cooler harvest. The wines are ripe and generous, with the best estates in Châteauneuf showing good freshness and structure; lesser wines are soft. Good to very good; drink over ten years.
- 2022A record hot, dry year that Grenache handled well on the deeper soils: concentrated, ripe, surprisingly fresh wines with polished tannins, and a healthy crop after the frost-hit 2021. Very good, especially in Châteauneuf and Gigondas; the best will age…
